Australia’s leading daily newspaper, The Herald Sun has revealed a list of the top five most violent video games on the market today.
As expected the recently banned, then overturned, Aliens vs. Predator video game made the list , as too did Grand Theft Auto IV, which also came under scrutiny from the classifications board.
Here is a rundown of the five most violent rated games:
Left 4 Dead 2:
A game which gets users to dispatch hordes of drooling zombies with extreme bias using everything from pump action shot guns to baseball bats.
Aliens vs. Predator:
Rejected by the censorship panel for fears the game would entice players to indulge in “explicit decapitation and dismemberment as well as locational damage such as stabbing through the chest, throat, eyes and mouth”.
MadWorld:
A game with blood soaked black and white mayhem where players can carve up each other with chainsaws, impale them with street signs and throw rubber tyres over them.
Grand Theft Auto IV:
Beating innocent people to death is the norm in this game where baseball bats are the normal weapons of choice.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2:
Another game that went under the eye of the classification board. Using a machine gun player’s mow down travelers as they attempt to flee in an airport terminal.
