After spending a year on the sidelines, Tony Hawk’s video game franchise has rolled back into the market with the release of his newest edition, Tony Hawk Ride.
The newest version see’s Hawk team up with a new developer, Robomodo, and adopt a change through a brand-new control scheme.
After the success the game received when it was first released, Tony Hawk skateboarding went into hibernation for a while, but it now appears it is ready to throw a full blown assault back into the top games list.
A lot of the basic principals in the previous Tony Hawk games still exist in this newest version, but they are all made even harder, and more exiting with the addition of the new control device.
Shaped like a skateboard, you will be able to enhance the skating experience by actually standing on a replica of what you are playing.
The board has four infrared sensors located on the ends and sides, and extending your arm over one will perform a grab. Each sensor’s range is quite long, so you don’t need to bend right down to the deck to perform a grab.
If you want to feel like a real boarder, you can use your foot to kick off, however, swiping a foot or hand past a side sensor is also enough to get you moving.
Famous skateboard identities such as Daewon Song, Lyn-Z, Adams Hawkins and of course Tony Hawk himself are all included in the game, and, as usual, there will be a bunch of street and half pipe skate areas to carve up along the journey.
Tony Hawk Ride will be rolling onto the shelves later this year and should be a good buy for any lover of the previous versions
