The Agency

Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) has been building towards the release of The Agency for a little while and it looks as though the genre-breaking MMO will be out in 2010.

The Agency is going to be the world’s first FPS (first-person shooter) MMO game and for that reason alone it is expected to generate plenty of interest.

In short, you will create a spy operative character to side with one of two opposing factions (U.N.I.T.E and ParaGON), and then hook up in multiplayer groups to complete missions.

There is plenty to look forward to in terms of gameplay. First of all, you will be able to switch between first-person and third-person, meaning you have plenty of flexibility when trying to take down enemies.

It is known that a sense of realism will be kept in the game; for example, a bullet to the head will instantly kill any player.

The world map will be divided into public and private areas, so that you can meet team members in public areas and then band together to complete quests in private zones.

The class system for the game has not been fully fleshed out, but it is understood that the statement “you are what you wear” will have a heavy influence here. It is known that you can be one of six classes at any point in time.

Plenty of online gamers and FPS enthusiasts will be awaiting the release of The Agency; let’s just hope there is some sort of special element to the game that makes players stick around.
