Texas Cheat’Em

Have you ever wanted to cheat at poker, but you were scared of getting your head kicked in?

Well now is your chance to swindle, sneak and peek in the safety of your own living room.

Texas Cheat’Em (yes, that’s what it is really called) is available on the PlayStation Network and takes an interesting bent on the standard Texas Hold’Em game.

In this title you are required to cheat your way to the top, using a combination of card-swapping, chip-stealing and hand-peeking techniques.

You will be able to build up ‘cheat points’ in career mode to use in tricky cheating manoeuvres, of which there are 15 in total.

But don’t think you are the only one cheating – everyone else is trying to get a leg up on you too.

Perhaps the most fun to be had with this game is in the multiplayer online section, in which up to eight players can join in the poker cheating mayhem.

There are a couple of drawbacks to the game though, and the biggest problem is the hideous presentation of the game.

It has to be one of the ugliest games ever made, which simply makes you not want to look at the screen.

The second irritation is the supremely lame names of the artificial characters, like Ned Nerdlinger.

On the whole, if you are massively into poker and want to get a feel for what it would be like to cheat, give it a go. Otherwise give it a miss.

5.5/10
