One of my favourite games while growing up was the age-old classic, Price of Persia.
The great video game based in the Middle Eastern deserts was fine example of a first person fighter intertwined into a strong narrative journey.
Twenty years later and Prince of Persia is back for yet another assault on the video game market.
With the Jerry Bruckheimer Hollywood blockbuster set to screen very shortly around the world, the comeback by the game is a case of perfect timing.
However, believe it or not, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands has no connection to the movie and does not follow the story line of the release by any means.
In the game we are welcomed to an impressive, sweeping view of a city that is under attack from scores of sword-wielding men fighting along the battlements and fortress grounds.
The kingdom under attack belongs to the prince’s older brother, who he has come to visit just in time for the onslaught.
With the ongoing chaotic battle unfolding in the background, the prince shows of his awesome skills and athletic ability in defending his right and killing off enemies by the dozen.
There are some great action scenes and some impressive new moves that I could have never imagined when I first played the game many years ago.
One great move can be seen when facing a decent-sized group. The prince can actually crowd surf and hop on the heads of the enemies, then dance out of the way of punches, sword attacks and other flying objects.
Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands will be released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC later on in the year.
