Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising

How often to gamers complain that their shooters are not realistic enough?

All the time.

It is with that complaint in mind that developer Codemasters made Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising.

The game is set to be released in Autumn 2009 on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, and has already got plenty of players excited.

The intention of Operation Flashpoint is to be as realistic as possible, giving the gamer as close to a real military experience as he is ever likely to get.

Tactical simulation is at the forefront of gameplay, with Artificial Intelligence (AI) placed at a premium and very important to the way the game works.

In fact, it is fair to say that the quality of the AI for both your player’s allies and enemies will ultimately determine the success or failure of the game.

Early reports are quite positive about this facet of the game, but it will be impossible to assess fully until the game is released.

There are more than 70 real life weapons included in the game, allowing for a decent amount of experimentation and evolution of your character with the game.

Many will be excited to hear that gameplay takes place in an open world environment, where you will set your missions and objectives and do not have to follow a set order of play.

Finally, the combat experience is aimed at as real as possible. If you get shot you cannot instantly repair yourself with a medikit or food – you will remain impaired until the end of the mission.

The bodypart you get hit in will be directly affected, harming your speed, vision etc.

This has to be one of most anticipated games of recent times.
