Nintendo plan on releasing a follow up to the highly successful DS gaming console with a new device called the 3DS.
In addition to the new video game product being advanced and much better than the previous model, it is also in 3D, s the name may suggest.
However, unlike in the movies and weekly flick magazines, the 3DS will not require you to wear those stupid looking glasses.
Apparently the screen will be advanced enough to allow for the 3D graphics to be visualized without needing a lens before your eye.
It comes as a surprise to many as glasses free TVs are still not expected to hit the market for another five to ten years.
The DS itself has had over 125 million units sold since its launch in 2004 and there are high expectations on the success of its follow up.
The new 3DS comes as existing DS sales are starting to slow. Nintendo DS sales are expected to decline slightly in the second half of this year.
The company is forecasting sales of 30 million units in the fiscal year ending March 31, down from last year’s 31.2 million units.
And if you are worried that the new mach9ne will not plays original DS games, well you are only half right.
The 3DS is expected to be compatible with the former console from early next year.
All this, so soon after Sony just announced their own small pocket sized console, The Move.
