Go for it, go for the top, go for it… CONNECT FOUR!!!
Who could forget that catchy jingle which was synonymous with the famous Milton Bradley board game of the 90s?
Connect 4 has proven itself time after time to be one of the most enjoyable simple games ever made.
The principle is basic, you have a vertical standing square shaped structure with holes in it for you to stack coins into.
The first player to get four of the same colour in any direction, vertical horizontal or diagonal, wins!
Sure, the game may be little more than a glorified version of tic-tac-toe, but there’s enough complexity involved to occupy you and a friend on a cold rainy Sunday afternoon, and it won’t eat up a weekend like a game of Monopoly or Risk.
It is quick, fun and always has a winner!
Now, everyone across the globe can enjoy the famous board game online, with EA Sports releasing the video game version of Connect 4.
The good part about the new game is that the developers did not go above and beyond the call of duty. They kept with the simplistic nature of the game and didn’t break a winning formula.
The available game play modes are single-player, pass-and-play (which lets you take a turn and then hand your Pre over to your opponent to take his or her turn), and online multiplayer.
In summary, the video game version does a good job of replicating a winning formula, but it doesn’t offer much else.
When you can just play the board game, why waste your money on a video game version?
