Potentially, Aliens vs. Predator could be one of the greatest releases of the year, if not the decade.
However, reviews are never based on potential, they are based on what you have at hand.
Unfortunately for the developers of the game, Rebellion, Aliens vs. Predator is a shadow of what it could be and really never gets out of second gear the entire game.
The franchise itself dates back almost two decades and has sparked a swag of movies and games to cash in on the success of the survival adventure series.
The game is published by SEGA who haven’t exactly been riding a wave of quality titles in recent times, so it was no surprise to see Aliens vs. Predator fall short of the mark yet again.
The title focuses on the epic battles between the aliens, the predators, and the colonial marines who are being torn apart somewhere in the middle.
The real attraction in the title is that the game can be played from the perspective of any of these three races, each playing entirely differently to the next.
While all the basics of the game are quite strong in the beginning, they begin to get relatively dull the more you play it and there are some frustrating design choices that leave users questioning how it could have been done better.
One huge annoyance is the shooting side of the game play, where you will be frustrated at the inability to reload fast enough and the lack of effectiveness while doing so.
In summary, Aliens Vs Predator falls well short of the mark and once again fails to live up to its hype.
